Hot Water
Hot water is provided from a large hot water tank (200 litres) fitted with two immersion heaters, which is located in the airing cupboard on the landing.
Very Important
Outside of the airing cupboard on the left hand side of the door is a “Heater” switch, which when “On” shows a red light. This switch must remain on at all times (i.e. light illuminated) otherwise the time clock (photograph below) will be thrown out of sequence and this will adversely affect your hot water supply.
On arriving at the property please ensure the main switch for the hot water (indicated at box 2 on the photo above) is in the “On” position. This will ensure a full tank of hot water is heated up each night, overnight. Experience indicates that this should provide enough hot water for normal usage. However, if you notice the hot water is becoming tepid later in the day, or you are planning baths in the evening before bed, you may need to top up the hot water supply. To do this you need to switch on the second “booster” heater.
So, if you need more hot water, then you can give the tank a boost by pressing the “boost button” (see box 3 above). This will activate the “boost” or secondary immersion heater for 30 mins, which should be more than enough. (If for some reason this is still not enough, then just repeat pressing the boost button and you’ll get another 30 mins of heating the water). Please do not turn this dial away from the 30 mins setting. When you press this button the pressure and movement of the button is so slight it can be difficult to be sure it has switched on. For reassurance, please look at the “BOOST” Light (see box 4 above) this will glow green, indicating that the “boost” is on.
